OAKWOOD, Ga. - The Piedmont University Cross Country team took on the UNG Invite early Friday night. With men competing in the 8K and women the 5K.
On the men's side, senior
Layton Bradford led the lions and placed 14th as the only Lion in the top 15 finishers with a time of 27:40.8.
Returners
Brody Geckler and
Grady Sanders crossed the finish line back-to-back. Geckler turned in a time of 30:27.4 and Sanders with a time of 30:28.4.
Keegan Ivey and
Xander Wiley rounded out the finishers for the Lions, with Ivey turning in a time of 37:14 and Wiley with a time of 37:55.
For the women, senior
Bella Caccamo was the first finisher for the Lions, finishing 38th place with a PR time of 20:58.7.
Freshmen
Madison Worsham and
Katie Payne both turned in PRs at this meet. Worsham followed closely behind Caccamo and ran 22:07.8, while Payne ran 25:08.8.
Newcomers,
Eva Doyne and
Roseline Velasquez kicked off their season at UNG. Doyne completed the race with a time of 34:31.2, while Velasquez turned in a time of 40:57.
Sprinters Allison Cantrell and Michelle Cates dipped their toes into endurance this week completing their first 5K for the Lions. Cantrell turned in a time of 41:26 and Cates with a time of 41:28, dueling it off to the finish line.
