DEMOREST, Ga. – Piedmont University Athletics has announced the promotion of men's lacrosse coach Tim Dunton to the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, where he will oversee NCAA and conference regulations while maintaining his role as Head Men's Lacrosse Coach.
In his new position, Dunton will be responsible for monitoring eligibility, ensuring adherence to NCAA and conference rules and providing guidance to Piedmont coaches and student-athletes on compliance-related matters.
"Tim has proven himself to be an exceptional leader both on the field and in administration," said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jamie Purdy. "His experience, attention to detail and commitment to doing things the right way make him the perfect fit to lead our compliance efforts. I am confident he will strengthen our department in this critical area."
Since arriving in Demorest in 2016, Dunton has transformed the men's lacrosse program into a consistent contender, guiding the Lions to four straight double-digit win seasons, multiple conference players of the year and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019. He is a three-time USA South Coach of the Year, earning back-to-back honors in 2024 and 2025.
Dunton brings extensive administrative experience to the compliance role, having previously served as Associate Athletics Director at Lasell University, where he also built a successful lacrosse program.
"I am honored to step into this new position and serve Piedmont in a broader capacity," said Dunton. "I look forward to working closely with our coaches, staff, and student-athletes to uphold the high standards of Piedmont athletics."
A native of New England, Dunton was a four-year letter winner and captain at Endicott College before embarking on his coaching and administrative career. He earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Endicott and a master's degree in sports administration with a concentration in sports leadership from Lasell.
