DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont men's lacrosse team suffered its first loss in USA South play on Saturday as Pfeiffer prevailed 18-6 on senior day for the Lions. Prior to the contest, four seniors were honored for their careers with the team.
Pfeiffer jumped out with a hot start scoring just 37 seconds into the game and took a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of play. Piedmont was not deterred getting on the board thanks to a goal by
Isaac Harrington off an assist from
Joseph Whitmore.
With the score standing at 3-1, Pfeiffer scored three more in the first making it 6-1, but the Lions got one back in the final 30 seconds as
Noah McGriff scored to start a Piedmont rally.
The Lions tallied four in a row with three to start the second period making it a contest at 6-5. The threat was neutralized as Piedmont was held scoreless until midway through the fourth quarter as Pfeiffer reeled off 10 unanswered.
The Falcons took a 16-5 lead outscoring Piedmont 8-1 in the second half and claiming the 18-6 victory.
Mike Eisele totaled 19 saves while Pfeiffer as a team posted 10.
Up next, the Lions will be in action on Wednesday, April 16 hosting Huntingdon in the home finale.
