2025 Men's Track & Field Senior Spotlight

These eight seniors have helped the Lions capture back-to-back CCS Track & Field Championships while placing second in the team’s final USA South season of 2022. They have combined for 18 top three finishes at USA South and CCS Championship Meets to earn All-Conference honors. They also leave the Lions with a pair of records while earning multiple conference weekly honors as well. 

DAVID ANDERSON | DULUTH, GA.

David Anderson

Anderson has competed in four seasons as a thrower at Piedmont. He delivered a PR performance in the javelin with a 36.49m throw in the first outdoor meet of 2025. David achieved his personal best in the shot put in the 2024 regular season finale with a mark of 9.92m. In the 2023 CCS Championship, David helped the Lions to victory with a seventh place finish thanks to a PR in the hammer throw with a 29.12m mark. A two-time conference champion, Anderson plans to graduate with a degree in history.

LAYTON BRADFORD | ALEX CITY, ALA.

Layton Bradford

In three competitive seasons for the Lions, Bradford has made his mark as a distance runner while also competing on the cross country team. Layton currently holds the second fastest time in program history in the 10k, the 5th fastest in the outdoor 5k and is 3rd fastest in the indoor 5k. He earned All-CCS Second Team honors in the 10k in 2023 and 2024, helping the Lions bring home the trophy both seasons. Bradford placed second in the 5k at the conference championship in 2024 and was 3rd in 2024. He plans to graduate with a degree in applied health science

Walker Capelle

Capelle has competed across four seasons with the Lions as a distance runner while also being a member of the cross country team. He crossed the line third in the 10k in both 2023 and 2024 to earn All-Conference honors while also finishing third in the 5k in 2024. Walker is the current program record holder in the 10k, a mark he set earlier this season. He is also third in program history in the 5k with a time of 15:37.17, set at the 2025 Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge. Capelle plans to graduate with a degree in business management.

TUCKER COX | STATHAM, GA.

Tucker Cox

Cox has displayed his versatility throughout his four seasons with the Lions, placing in the top 10 in the record books in five different events. He earned USA South Field Rookie of the Week honors back in 2021 and was an All-CCS 2ndTeam member for his 3k steeplechase performance in 2023 at the CCS Conference Championship. Tucker ranks third in program history in the 3k steeple, a mark set earlier this season at the Electric City Invitational. Cox ranks sixth in program history in the javelin, also a mark set this year. Getting it done in the classroom as well, he has earned CCS All-Academic Team honors. Cox plans to graduate with a degree in nursing.

JADON GONZALES | LAWRENCEVILLE, GA.

Jadon Gonzales

Gonzales has competed across four seasons for the Lions as a distance runner while also honing his craft in the fall as a member of the cross country team. He finds his name in the Piedmont record books, currently ranking fourth in 10k, which he set last season at Lee University with a time of 33:38.93. Earlier this season, Jadon delivered a PR performance in the 800m at the Emory Spring Break Classic. A two-time CCS Conference Champion, Gonzales plans to graduate with degrees in biology and environmental science.

KESHAWN MAXWELL | GREENSBORO, GA.

Keshawn Maxwell

Maxwell has competed across a pair of seasons with the Lions and has also been a part of the cross country team as well. Keshawn ran a pair of personal bests earlier this season at the Emory Spring Break Classic, with a 400m time of 56.03 and a 4:26.97 in the 1500m. He set his 800m PR time of 2:05.43 in April of 2024. Maxwell plans to graduate with a degree in applied health science.

PETER SLIGH | WATKINSVILLE, GA.

Peter Sligh

Sligh has been a four year member of the track and field program and has also been a runner on the cross country team as well. Peter delivered an outstanding performance in the 3k steeplechase at the 2023 CCS Championship, finishing third to earn all-conference honors. He showcased his versatility at that meet, competing in three different events and placing top three in all of them. His 3k steeple performance currently ranks sixth in program history. In the classroom, he is a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree. Sligh plans to graduate with a degree in chemical engineering.

GARRETT STADLER | FAIRFIELD, PA.
Garrett Stadler
Garrett Stadler

Stadler has had a storied career across four seasons with the Lions, ranking in the top 10 in nine different events in program history. He is a three-time USA South Conference Champion, winning the 110m hurdles in 2021 and 2022 and was a part of the winning 4x400m relay team in 2022. He also is a CCS Champion, winning the 400m hurdles in 2024. Stadler has been dominant in the 400m hurdles, holding the record at Piedmont in the category. Garrett has been a 13-time all-conference performer and was an academic all-conference member in 2023. Stadler plans to graduate with a degree in applied physics.
