Season Preview: Outdoor Track & Field

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont men's and women's track and field programs are set to begin the 2025 outdoor season this weekend heading to the Southern Wesleyan Opener in Central, South Carolina on Saturday, March 1. 

2024 Piedmont Men's Track & Field Champions
  • The Lions are scheduled to compete in seven meets across South Carolina and Georgia before the CCS Championships held once again at Maryville in Tennessee. 
  • Piedmont will have repeat appearances at Southern Wesleyan in Central, S.C. and at Berry in Rome, Ga.
  • The CCS Championships are slated for Wednesday, April 23-24.
2025 Outdoor Schedule
  • On the men's side, the Lions claimed the title last season earning back-to-back championships while the women won the title in 2023.
  • In total, the Lions had five individual conference champions including Gary Halverson in the men's 1500m, who broke his own school record previously set in 2022. Of the five champions, four hailed from the track events while one was from the thrower events.
  • On the women's side, senior Nakiyah Washington earned Field Athlete of the Meet and Overall Athlete of the Meet for her work in the women's throws.
  • Piedmont had three individual conference champions across four events with Nakiyah Washington winning a pair of events. Three of the four Lions event wins came on the field side while one came from the track events.
