ATLANTA - Piedmont men's tennis stepped out of conference and fell, 7-0, at Oglethorpe on Tuesday night in Atlanta.
The Lions were unable to grab a point in the match as the Stormy Petrels took the doubles point and then carried the momentum into singles action.
Oglethorpe clinched first at No. 1 doubles before Piedmont's No. 3 team of
Amir Latipov and
Mark Backeberg prevailed 6-2 at No. 3 to even things up. However, with the doubles point up for grabs, the Stormy Petrels won a hard-fought match, 7-5, at No. 2 to take a 1-0 lead going to singles.
