Lions Continue to Roll in Conference Play with 19-9 Win Over William Peace

NEED TO KNOW:
Score: Piedmont 19, William Peace 9
Records: Piedmont, 6-3 (3-0 USA South); William Peace, 3-3 (1-1 USA South)

CARY, N.C. - The Piedmont University men's lacrosse team continued its dominance of USA South foe William Peace University with a 19-9 win over the Pacers earlier Saturday afternoon.

Piedmont is now 6-0 against WPU all-time with all but one victory in the series coming by six goals or more.

The victory also keeps the Lions perfect in conference play at 3-0 as now only Piedmont and Pfeiffer remain without a loss in USA South men's lacrosse play.  Those two foes meet when the Lions play host to the Falcons on the first Saturday in April.

The opening quarter belonged to the Lions who took a 5-0 lead at the 1:47 mark when Ian Parr scored the first of his four goals on the day.  Parr and Isaac Harrington led all scorers in the contest with four goals each though it was Harrington who also shared the wealth totaling six assists on the afternoon as well.

Leading at the half 9-5, Piedmont traded scores with the Pacers in the 3rd quarter finding itself leading 12-9 with the game hanging in the balance at the 4 minute mark of the 3rd quarter.

But with the game seemingly up for grabs, the Lions put the pedal to the metal from that point on outscoring William Peace 7-0 over the final 18 minutes of game action.

That run by the boys from Demorest put the game out of reach and thwarted any hope of a comeback by the hosting Pacers with Piedmont claiming the eventual 10-goal victory in conference action.

TURNING POINT:
- Leading by just three with a little over three minutes remaining in the 3rd, Piedmont would not allow a score the rest of the way while tallying seven goals of its own to cement a road victory by a comfortable margin.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Ian Parr and Isaac Harrington who each scored four goals for the Lions in the win.
- Mike Eisele who played all 60 minutes in the cage collecting eight saves putting him just 16 shy of 100 on the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Harrington also added a half-dozen assists in the victory as well, a new single-game high for 2025 by any Lion and the most since Brady McGuire posted 10 in a 24-3 win over Brevard last season.
- The two foes actually were close in the total shot count but Piedmont put 32 of its 46 on the cage compared to WPU who only did so 17 times on its 42 shots.

UP NEXT:
- A Tuesday night home affair with Brevard coming to Demorest on March 25 for a 5:00 pm face-off.
