USA South Defensive Player of the Week: Mike Eisele
USA South Rookie of the Week: Ian Kuysten
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Piedmont men's lacrosse earned a clean sweep of the USA South weekly awards, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Isaac Harrington earned Offensive Player of the Week,
Mike Eisele took Defensive Player of the Week while
Ian Kuysten earned Rookie of the Week honors.
The Lions posted a 2-0 week with wins over LaGrange and Methodist to begin league play.
Harrington delivered a season-best eight points in a four-goal, four-assist effort in the 19-3 road win at LaGrange on Tuesday. The junior from Palatine, Illinois then followed it up with another hat trick, scoring three times and adding an assist in a home win over Methodist Saturday. This marks Harrington's fifth career USA South Offensive Player of the Week nod as he has now earned the honor twice this season.
Eisele takes home top defensive honors for the first time after an outstanding week of action in goal for the Lions. The junior from Alpharetta made three saves and allowed just one goal in a half of action in the dominant win at LaGrange before shutting down the Methodist offense with a 15-save performance on Saturday while only allowing three goals.
Kuysten also earns his first career USA South weekly honor as he started both games to help a Piedmont defense that allowed just three goals in conference wins at LaGrange and at home against Methodist. The Suwanee, Georgia native totaled six ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers for the week.
Up next, the Lions will look to improve to 3-0 in USA South play, taking on William Peace on the road this Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m.
