NASHVILLE, Tenn. - In a bounce-back win, the Piedmont men's lacrosse team left no doubt in a 16-5 win over Hendrix Sunday. The Lions jumped out in front 6-1 after the first period and did not allow more than one goal in a period until the final quarter.
The Lions raced out of the gate with a goal from
Zach Avila just over a minute into the game. Piedmont led 2-0 before Hendrix got on the board, but then the Lions used an 8-0 run to lead 10-1 with 6:07 remaining until the half.
Hendrix scored just two goals in the first half while Piedmont took a 10-2 lead into the break. Piedmont was again first on the board out of halftime as
Noah McGriff scored on an assist by
Ian Parr. McGriff scored twice in the game with both coming in the third period.
The Lions led 13-3 heading into the final 15 as Piedmont scored three in the final period with two from Parr. The Warriors scored a pair in the final minutes of the game after starter
Mike Eisele was replaced by
Trey Tuggle in net.
Up next, the Lions will be in action at home against Oglethorpe on Saturday, February 22 at 3 p.m.
