2025 Men's Soccer Senior Spotlight

These 11 seniors have helped the Lions to 24 overall wins over the last four seasons, including five wins thus far in 2025. Individually, these 11 have combined for over 408 games played and 242 starts while adding 36 goals, 26 assists, and 311 saves. They have combined for seven appearances on the CCS All-Academic listing, three CCS Offensive Player of the Week awards, and four CCS Second Team listings!

#0 COLLIN SHEELER | BRENTWOOD TENN.
SHEELERSPOTLIGHT

Sheeler has appeared in 13 games with five starts over his career with the Lions. Sheeler was solid for Piedmont, collecting 51 saves while having a season-high shots faced with 12 and saves with 7 against Centre in 2023. Off the field, Sheeler received all academic honors from the CCS and plans to graduate with a degree in engineering physics. 

#1 BOBBY WOOD | VALDOSTA, GA.
SPOTLIGHTWOOD

Wood has appeared in 56 games for the Lions, serving as the starting keeper for the green and gold over the course of his career. Wood started strong with the Lions, totaling 84 saves in his freshman year and earning two CCS Defensive Player of the Week awards along with All-CCS Second Team honors for the 2022 season. Wood enters today as third all-time in Piedmont saves with 260. Wood plans to graduate with a degree in sports administration. 

#5 DELROY MATTIS | VALDOSTA, GA.
SPOTLIGHTMATTIS

Mattis has appeared in 44 games in his career with 38 starts. Mattis joined the Lions in 2023 and made an immediate impact, playing in 17 contests and accumulating six points as a defender. In the same year, Mattis netted a game-winning goal against Belhaven to secure a Piedmont victory in the last match of the regular season. Mattis patrolled the Lions’ backfield with speed and explosiveness throughout his career and earned All-CCS Second Team placement for his efforts in the 2024 season. He has continued his good work this season as he added a CCS Offensive Player of the Week award to his name. Mattis plans to graduate with a degree in athletic training. 

#10 COLIN VOGEL | SUWANNE, GA.
SPOTLIGHTVOGEL

Vogel has appeared in 64 games across his career and has been a model of consistency, as the forward for the Lions has played in all but one game in the past three seasons. Vogel put the conference on notice in his freshman year, scoring five goals and earning two CCS Rookie of the Week nods during the 2022 season. Vogel didn’t slow down in his sophomore year, as he scored a career-high eight goals and earned CCS Offensive Player of the Week twice during the campaign and was given the honors of All-CCS First Team for his play during the year. Vogel currently stands with 61 points in his career. Vogel plans to graduate with a degree in business. 

#15 MOHAMMED ALSUWEYDI I BURFORD, GA.
SPOTLIGHTALSUWEYDI

Alsuweydi has played in 57 games across his career with 36 starts, serving as a rock in the Lions’ midfield. Alsuweydi was tabbed with responsibility early on, as he started in 17 of 18 games in his first two seasons with the Lions in 2022 and 2023. This season Mohammed was able to find the back of the net for the first time against the Asbury Eagles in a CCS matchup, which secured the Lions’ first conference victory of the season. Alsuweydi plans to graduate with a degree in engineering physics. 

#17 CHRISTOPHER BELIN I GENOLIER, SWITZERLAND
SPOTLIGHTBELIN

Belin has appeared in thirteen games throughout his career, earning solid minutes in the Lions’ back and midfield. Belin is a film production major and has won a Gold Telly at the Southeast Emmy Awards for his work on “The Fighting Lady,” which earned Piedmont their second Golden Telly in school history. Belin has also tallied two CCS All-Academic awards during his time at Piedmont. He looks to graduate in the spring with a bachelor’s in film production.

#21 JACKSON SHIRLEY I BRASELTON, GA.
SPOTLIGHTSHIRLEY

Shirley has played in 53 games across his time in the green and gold, building a reputation as a reliable midfielder. Shirley competed in 17 games in his freshman season, collecting a career high of 741 minutes. Off the field Shirley has been named to the CCS All-Academic Team for his efforts in the classroom. Shirley plans to graduate with a degree in finance. 

#22 JAMES COOPER I MARIETTA, GA.
SPOTLIGHTCOOPER

Cooper has appeared in 37 games for the Lions across his career and has seen the most playing time at Piedmont in this season, sitting at 469 minutes and climbing for the midfielder. Cooper has shown his reliability on the pitch as well as in the classroom, as Cooper was selected to the CCS All-Academic Team twice. Cooper was also recognized for his sportsmanship on the field, as he was selected to the CCS All-Sportsmanship Team in 2024. Cooper plans to graduate with a degree in business marketing. 

#23 PHILIP NOWAK I HOSCHTON, GA.
SPOTLIGHTNOWAK

Nowak has played in 37 games and accumulated two goals across his time at Piedmont. Nowak has shown speed and consistency on the wings for the Lions, bouncing between the midfield and the forward position. This season Nowak has notched a career high in minutes as he continues to provide solid production. In the classroom Nowak earned CCS All-Academic honors, putting in work with the grades as well as on the pitch. Nowak plans to graduate with a degree in business management. 

#24 SEBASTIAN ROJAS I MIAMI, FL.
SPOTLIGHTROJAS

Rojas has played in nine games in his career at Piedmont. The speedy forward caused havoc for opposing defenders when given the opportunity to work on the attacking wings. Off the field, Rojas earned marks in the classroom with two CCS All-Academic Team honors. Rojas plans to graduate with a degree in Sports and Fitness Administration.

#28 JONATHAN FERDINAND I MCDONOUGH, GA.
SPOTLIGHTFERDINAND

Ferdinand appeared in 24 contests throughout his career and collected five goals and two assists. Ferdinand made a big impact in the Lions’ 2022 season as he scored his first career goal against Berea in the CCS Quarterfinals.  In 2023 Ferdinand would find the back of the net four times as he set a career high and marched through opposing defenses. Ferdinand plans to graduate with a degree in applied health and science.
