Men's Soccer Dominates MUW in 5-0 Win

COLUMBUS, Miss. - The Piedmont men's soccer team dominated Mississippi University for Women early Sunday afternoon, delivering a decisive 5-0 win. The Lions offense exploded for four goals in the second half. 

It was all Piedmont from the opening whistle as the Lions controlled the flow of the contest. Junior Colin Vogel wasted no time putting in his first of the season, giving his squad a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute of the game. However, despite the offense posting 14 shots in the first 45, Piedmont went to the half with just a 1-0 lead.

Out of the break, Piedmont immediately doubled its lead as junior Cristi Pascaru put away his first of the season in the 50th minute. Then, six minutes later, freshman Mason Keith connected with senior Jason Aussin to give him his first goal of the season. 

The 3-0 lead remained for less than ten minutes as Pascaru once again found the back of the net. With no signs of slowing down, sophomore Anthony Bonilla found Keith, who scored the first goal of his collegiate career and pushed the Lions lead to 5-0.

Piedmont recorded an astounding 32 shots in the contest while holding MUW to just 6. 

Up next, Piedmont travels to play Warren Wilson on Wednesday, September 4 at 4 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- Just minutes into the second half, Cristi Pascaru scored his first goal of the season and gave the Lions a commanding 2-0 lead.
