DEMOREST, Ga. - Trace Cate becomes just the third Lion in program history to earn a Gold Glove during his career at Piedmont as he was one of three outfielders across Division III to be selected as a 2024 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner. 

Cate is the third to earn the award in program history and second outfielder behind Carter Ballstadt in 2021 and Kevin Caldwell who earned a Gold Glove as a pitcher in 2013. 

The outfielder from Marietta, Georgia spent his time in right field for the Lions as he posted 128 putouts without an error across 42 games in 2024. 

Cate was able to get it done as an all-around player posting the best batting average on the team as well with a .374 and earned All-Region honors from the ABCA/Rawlings.
