DEMOREST, Ga. - CARTER BALLSTADT becomes the second Lion in program history to earn a Gold Glove as he was one of three outfielders across Division III to be selected as a 2021 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner.
Ballstadt is the second to earn the award in program history behind Kevin Caldwell who earned a Gold Glove as a pitcher in 2013.
The utility player from Gainesville, Georgia spent his time in centerfield and as a relief pitcher for the Lions. Ballstadt had just two errors in the field through 37 games and helped turn two double plays from the outfield.
"We are so proud of Carter for winning a Rawlings Gold Glove Award," Head Baseball Coach Justin Scali said. "It is such a prestigious honor that Rawlings and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) gives out annually. The award is a testament to how hard he works on a daily basis and we are glad he is a Piedmont Lion!"
Ballstadt got it done in all aspects of the game as was noted by his All-American honors by D3Baseball.com as one of the best utility players in the country.
