ATLANTA, Ga. - In the final non-conference action of the season, the Piedmont University baseball team rolled to a 12-5 victory at Oglethorpe Tuesday. Piedmont was effective offensively scoring 12 runs on 12 hits.

The Lions fell behind early as starter Peyton Irvin surrendered a run in the first off a pair of hits. Piedmont was quick to answer in the top of the second as Kolton Hicks doubled to start the frame and was driven in on a James Whitmer 2-run home run.

Both teams added a run in the third to put Piedmont ahead 3-2 but a four spot in the fourth gave Piedmont a 7-2 lead to work with. Cole Ellis hit a 2-RBI triple followed by Spencer Muffuletto connecting for his first career home run, a 2-RBI shot to left.

Piedmont used a total of seven pitchers as Irvin went two to start the contest and was only matched by Nathan Boyce who later would earn the win. Prior to Boyce entering in the fifth, the Stormy Petrels tacked on three themselves in the home half of the fourth.

Boyce worked with a 10-5 advantage after the Lions added three runs on one hit and four walks in the top of the fifth. Boyce pitched two innings of no hit ball allowing no runs and three walks.

Piedmont added two more runs in the seventh as Isaak Mullanack had a 2-RBI single.

Piedmont totaled 10 strikeouts as a team across the seven pitchers.
