BEREA, Ky. - Piedmont women's tennis delivered a doubleheader sweep in Kentucky on Saturday afternoon, taking down Berea and Asbury with both matches taking place in Berea, Kentucky.

The Lions began the day with a 9-0 sweep of the Mountaineers before also cruising past future CCS foe Asbury 7-2 to cap the day.

Match 1: Piedmont 9, Berea 0

The Lions dispatched the Mountaineers by a 9-0 margin for the second time this season. However, this one counted as another CCS win for the 5-0 in the league Lions.

Piedmont lost just three total games in a doubles sweep and were clinical in all five of the singles matches that were contested as well.

With the Mountaineers having just five available players, the Lions took No. 3 doubles by default. Then, Piedmont was dominant at No. 1 and No. 2. Two-time CCS Doubles Team of the Week Brook Patton and Dannie Evans cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 1 while Daisha Thompson and Hollan Rabensdorf delivered an 8-1 triumph at No. 2.

As Berea was forced to forfeit the match at No. 6, Piedmont needed just one singles match to clinch the victory. Junior Mia Vasher won the race for the clinch, not dropping a game at No. 2.

Robinson also did not drop a single game in a win at No. 4. Sarah Row (6-1, 6-1) cruised at No. 1 while Patton (6-2, 6-2) did the same at No. 3.

Sophomore Lizzie Ivey picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5.

Match 2: Piedmont 7, Asbury 2

In a preview of a future CCS matchup, the Lions took down Asbury 7-2 in a neutral site match played at Berea.

The Lions jumped on the Eagles early with a doubles sweep and then quickly clinched in singles, winning 4-of-6 singles matches in straight sets.

Moving up to the No. 2 spot in the doubles lineup, Marion Sloyan and Brooklyn Bolch cruised to an 8-4 win to put the first point of the match on the board for the Lions. Then, it was freshman Kenzie Imsand along with Vasher in the No. 3 doubles spot and they came away with an 8-4 win as well. Then, it was Alyssa McSpadden and Dakota Wilkes who put the match squarely in Piedmont's hands with an 8-6 win at No. 1.

Needing just two lines to take the match, Piedmont's Wilkes was up for the task as she earned the clinch with a grueling 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2.

McSpadden also won in decisive fashion (6-2, 6-2), moving up to the No. 3 slot in the order. Jordan Ballard took her match in dominant fashion as well at No. 5, cruising 6-0, 6-2 while Evans rolled in a dominant first set and battled through a second-set tiebreaker to win 6-2, 7-6 (4).

The Eagles were able to salvage wins at No. 1 singles in straight sets and win in a third-set match tiebreaker at No. 4 singles, but the damage was done, as Piedmont emerged with a sweep in Kentucky.

Up next, the Lions will take on Maryville on the road tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the team's penultimate conference match.
