Records: Piedmont, 11-2 (4-1 USA South); LaGrange, 6-8 (2-3 USA South)

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont men's lacrosse team continued its dominance in the USA South with a 28-8 win over LaGrange on a rainy Wednesday night in Demorest.

The Lions blitzed the Panthers out of the gate, leading 19-1 at the half and never looking back in the dominant.

Piedmont's 28 goals ties the single game program record, matching the team's total in a 2022 win over Brevard.

Sophomore Isaac Harrington set a new career high with six goals while adding an assist. Senior Michael Anderson tallied three goals and three assists. USA South assist leader Brady McGuire added four more to his tally while tacking on three goals as well.

Piedmont's Jacob Hasbrouck opened the scoring in the opening minute and the Lions were off to the races. Anderson scored twice in a one minute span to make it 4-0 with 8:48 left in the opening period. The Lions scored seven straight before LaGrange broke out of its cold spell with a goal with 1:38 left.

Piedmont then took complete control with a dominant second quarter and led 19-1 at the break. The second quarter was highlighted by goalie Johnny Matrona's journey up the field, resulting in his second career goal.

The Panthers were able to score five times in the final quarter but the deficit was far too much to overcome in the 20-goal loss.

Piedmont was dominant across the box score, owning a 74-24 shot advantage including a 44-16 edge in shots on goal. The Lions also forced 26 LaGrange turnovers on the night.

Up next, the Lions head to Methodist after a weekend off to face the Monarchs on Saturday, April 20 at 12:00 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
-- The Lions left no doubt with a dominant first half that saw them score 19 goals and allow just one.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
-- McGuire delivered his second consecutive game with three goals and four assists.
-- Harrington tallied his career high with six goals.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
-- This eclipsed Piedmont's highest goal total of the season after scoring 25 against Spalding earlier in the season.
-- Eight different Lions scored multiple goals in the game.
