DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's lacrosse team dropped their Monday afternoon contest against Lynchburg by a score of 19-7. The contest remained close in the first half before Lynchburg used a big run in the second quarter to take all the momentum into the break.

The Hornets opened the contest on a three-goal run before the Lions were finally able to get on the board. Freshman Savannah Limehouse found the back of the net midway through the first and junior Ava Trankina cut the lead to one shortly after. Lynchburg ended the period on a 4-0 run to take a 7-2 lead into the second.

Piedmont came out hot in the period, scoring the first three goals. Limehouse, Maggi Spratlin and Laura Crone all poured in goals as it appeared the Lions would rally back into the contest. However, the Hornets countered with a 7-1 run to close out the second half, taking a 14-6 lead into the break.

After halftime, Lynchburg shut down the Piedmont offense, with the only goal allowed coming in the dying minutes. The score line finished 19-7 in favor of Lynchburg.

Up next, the Lions hit the road for two away contests, starting with Randolph College on Friday, March 15.
