Cycling Competes in 2024 Assault on Currahee Mountain

The 2024 Assault on Currahee Mountain put on by Chainbuster Racing, was put on just 5 miles away from campus at Lake Russell. The course was designed by the Piedmont Cycling team's very own head coach, Jame Carney.  Forty-one miles of gravel and almost 5,000 feet of elevation put for a tough race ahead of the Piedmont Cycling team.

On the women's side, there was a ton of success! We had three women in the Long Open category. Grace Wilson and Emma Frost both snagged a spot on the podium in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Katie Prowell finished right behind them in 4th place.

On the men's side, however, it was just a series of unfortunate events waiting to unfold. Three of our athletes on the Men's cycling team suffered bike-mechanicals that put an end to Ben Kolbie's and Dylan Lindsey's races. Preston Eye was able to come back from this and get 6th in the Men's Long Open category.
