Cycling Completes Successful Week at Collegiate Track Nationals

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. - Piedmont cycling took on Collegiate Track Nationals last week, enjoying success in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania.

On Thursday, Reagen Pattishall, Elizabeth Harden, and Preston Eye started off the morning with a flying 200 meter time trial to qualify for the sprint tournament. Pattishall qualified 6th, Harden 14th, and Eye 17th. After a couple rounds of the tournament, Emma Frost, Pattishall and Harden competed in women’s team pursuit where they finished fourth.

In the afternoon session Thursday, the sprint tournament wrapped up. All three Lions improved from their qualifying time with Harden going from 14th to ninth, Eye going from 17th to 6th and Pattishall went from sixth to fifth.

Friday evening the team raced their scratch races. The men’s race was 36 laps and the women’s race was 24 laps. Both races were tough with many breakaways as Pattishall sprinted to a second place finish.

Saturday morning kicked off the finial day of racing with Pattishall and Frost competing in the individual pursuit. After a tough start Pattishall was still able to finish 5th while Eye qualified for the points race later that evening.

In the last session of racing on Saturday night, Eye raced a 90 lap points race as the girls raced a 60 lap points race. Harden finished 8th and Pattishall finished third.

The team finished fourth overall out of 11 teams. Eye finished 16th in the men's omnium. Frost finished 23rd, Harden finished 10th and Pattishall finished fifth in the women's omnium.
