LOUISVILLE, Ky. - On Wednesday, December 11th, the team made their way up to Louisville, Kentucky, for collegiate cyclocross nationals. Along the way, there was some rain, making for a muddy course at the race.
The girls were the first to kick off the racing.
Grace Wilson,
Emma Frost, and
Katie Prowell all raced hard and made their way into the top 40. Wilson placed 32nd, Frost placed 33rd, and Prowell placed 34th.
The boys were next to race.
Preston Eye and
Ben Kolbie both raced hard. Eye raced to a 33rd-place finish.
The next day, Wilson, Eye, and Frost participated in the team relay. The day before, the mud had been kept to a minimum, but as more and more riders raced on the course, the conditions got worse and worse. Eye started the team off, trying to keep up with the top cyclocross racers. Then Eye tagged off to Wilson, and she raced hard through the thick mud, then tagged off to Frost. She powered through the mud and then tagged Eye back in. Eye finished off the race for the team, resulting in an 8th place finish. The team finished 7th in the omnium.
