DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University men's soccer team dropped its conference home opener to the Panthers of LaGrange by a score of 3-1. The Lions scored first and played the majority of the contest with a man advantage but remained unable to stop a second half Panthers rally.
It was a back-and-forth contest for the opening twenty minutes before Piedmont found its first real opportunity. A long overhead ball played to
Davis Knight saw the sophomore forward sneak in behind the defense, leaving the LaGrange defender with no option but to drag Knight down from behind. The ensuing red card sent the Panthers down to 10 men and Knight capitalized on the free kick opportunity, burying the chance in the bottom right corner for a 1-0 lead.
