JACKSON, Miss. - The Piedmont University men's soccer team dropped its final road CCS contest of the season to the Blazers of Belhaven early Saturday afternoon. The Lions offense was held scoreless for 90 minutes while an early goal led to a Belhaven victory.

The Blazers jumped out to an early lead, finding the back of the net off the third shot of the game. The goal came in the 11th minute of action and proved to be the decisive goal in the contest.

Piedmont had limited chances to respond in the first half, posting just two shots in the first 45.

The offense picked up in the second half of the contest for both squads, with Belhaven holding a narrow 7-5 shot lead over the Lions. However, neither team would score as both keeper Bobby Wood and his Blazers counterpart would make the required saves.

The Lions went on to post the final shot of the game in the 81st minute before the final whistle signaled a 1-0 loss for the visitors.

Up next, Piedmont returns home for a big conference bout with the Scots of Covenant on Tuesday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m.
