DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University men's soccer team fell 3-1 to the Scots of Covenant late Tuesday night. The Lions scored first in the contest and had multiple opportunities for goals but remained unable to capitalize.
Piedmont earned the first real chance of the contest in the 18th minute of action when a hard tackle inside the box earned a penalty kick for senior
Jason Aussin. However, the Covenant keeper stood strong, turning aside the chance and keeping the game level.
Sophomore
Andre Grant opened the scoring for the Lions in the 32nd minute, slamming home a rebound off a
Nathan Jacome shot that was saved just seconds prior. The early goal looked poised to give Piedmont all the momentum but the Scots responded less than a minute later with the equalizer.
The half brimmed with chances as the Lions struck the post or the crossbar four times but failed to find a second goal.
Out of the break, the Scots dominated possession of the ball and added a second goal in 62nd minute. Piedmont once again clanged the woodwork in the 80th minute before conceding the third and final goal of the contest.
Up next, Piedmont hosts Maryville for Senior Day on Friday, October 25 at 4:00 p.m. with festivities starting at 3:45 p.m.
