Senior Spotlight: Women's Swimming

2023-24 Women's Swimming Senior Spotlight

These four seniors have helped the program to 27 total wins over the past four years, including the program's first ever Independent South Swimming Conference Championship. As the first full class of seniors, these Lions were a part of the founding program year as freshmen and have seen the program take tremendous strides forward. With six dual wins already this season, the team will look to repeat their 2023 success with another ISSC ring. 

Arrendale has been a four-year swimmer for the Lions, competing in multiple different events during her time in Demorest. With one of her best years in 2023, she earned Independent South All-Conference honors in three different events including a top 3 finish in the 200 yard fly. Getting the job done in the classroom, Arrendale also was a part of the 2023 Independent South All-Academic Team. Lizzie plans to graduate in the spring of 2024 with a degree in healthcare administration.

Lloyd has been a staple of the program since its founding season, improving every season during her time as a Lion. She swam seaon bests during 2022-23 Independent South Swimming Conference Championship in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke. A true student athlete, Lloyd also got the job done in the classroom, being honored on the USA South All-Academic Team in 2022, the Independent South All-Academic Team in 2022 and 2023 and the earned CSC Academic All-District honors in 2023. Gillian plans to graduate in the spring of 2024 with a degree in marketing.

Thomas is a three-year swimmer for the Lions, seeing her first action during the 2021-22 season. Primarily placing in the backstroke events, Thomas led the team in three different backstroke events during the 2021-22 season while going on to earn Independent South All-Conference honors  for her efforts in 2022 and 2023. Also being a leader in the classroom, Thomas earned a spot on the USA South All-Academic Team in 2022, Independent South All-Academic Team honors in 2022 and went on to earn CSC Academic All-District in 2023. Gwyneth plans to graduate in the spring of 2024 with a degree in nursing.

Part of the founding class, Stone has spent four years leading the Lions in multiple events. Setting the team's top time in four events for back-to-back years, Stone has dominated since the beginning. Her success has seen her named to the Independent South All-Conference list twice, including earning the honor in 2023 for her three top four finishes at the championship in 2023. She also earned an Independent South All-Academic Team nod for the first time in her career last season. Lauren plans to graduate in the spring of 2024 with a degree in healthcare administration.
