YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - At the Young Harris XC Opener, the Piedmont Cross Country program saw two school records fall in their 2023 opening meet.

On the men's side, senior GARY HALVERSON broke the school record in the 6k with a 19:01.8, shattering the previous time set by Alvin Jacobs in 2019. Halverson's time was an astounding two minutes and 13 seconds faster than Jacobs'.

On the women's side, senior JAYCIE PONCE broke the school record in the 4k with a 16:40.6, breaking the previous time set by Val Angel in 2019. Ponce's time was over 20 seconds faster than Angel's.
