DEMOREST, Ga. - Methodist University announced last Friday that Ryan McKay has been named the school's new Head Men's Lacrosse Coach.
McKay spent the past six seasons at Piedmont as an assistant coach, helping the Lions ascend to the top of the USA South. He helped lead Piedmont to capture its first ever USA South Men's Lacrosse Tournament Title, coming in 2019.
"I am so incredibly proud of Coach McKay," Piedmont Head Coach Tim Dunton said. "Throughout his time here at Piedmont he has been instrumental in helping us grow into the program we are today. He has built tremendous relationships with our players, coaches and other staff members on campus."
Over the past three seasons, he helped the Lions remain in the top tier of the USA South, as they lost just one game in each of the 2021, 2022 and 2023 campaigns. Piedmont won a program record 10 games in 2022 and then set a new record again with 12 wins in 2023.
"He has been a great role model for our players through it all," Dunton said. "He has been an incredible resource for me in his six years. He has helped me become a better coach and I hope that he has learned as much from me, as I have from him.  He will be missed around campus and especially around our program, but we wish him nothing but the best of luck in his new role! We look forward to competing against him in the years to come."
McKay becomes the second head coach in Methodist's program history.
