DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University women's lacrosse team dominated N.C. Wesleyan 19-0 in its second home win of the week. The offense continued to show out while the midfield control and defense held the Battling Bishops scoreless.
It was all Lady Lions from the start as they set the tone early. Piedmont scored six goals in the first five minutes of the contest as they looked to bury the Battling Bishops.
MACHAELA SMITH,
CLARA WELCH,
AVA TRANKINA,
LINDLEY WARD and
ALY REECE all scored during the opening onslaught.
Welch added one more before the end of the 1st, putting her squad ahead 7-0.
The pace slowed in the 2nd period but Piedmont still continued to pour in the goals.
LOVETTE CHOLOH and
MERRYN BUMPASS joined the fun as Piedmont stretched the lead to 12-0 heading into half time.
Following the break, the Piedmont defense continued to frustrate the Battling Bishops, allowing zero shots in the 3rd period.
Taking a 15-0 lead into the final period, the Lady Lions added four more insurance goals before finishing the contest 19-0.
