MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Piedmont University women's lacrosse team slammed the door on Pfeiffer in the second half in route to a huge 23-8 win. The contest was close headed into halftime but Pfeiffer was held scoreless for the entire second half.

The Lady Lions attempted to bury the Falcons early, opening the contest on a four goal run. Pfeiffer finally answered with a goal of its own midway through the first but Piedmont responded with two more shortly after.

Taking a 6-3 lead into the second, CLARA WELCH and MAGGI SPRATLIN extended the lead to five just minutes into the second period. The Falcons fought hard to claw back to a neutral scoreline but goals from LINDLEY WARD and MERRYN BUMPASS kept them at arm's reach. Piedmont carried an 11-8 lead into the half.

The break turned out to be the turning point as the Piedmont offense began to smother Pfeiffer in the 3rd period, while the defense held them scoreless. The Lady Lions went on a seven goal run in the third.

In the fourth, Piedmont continued to run away with the contest, adding five more goals and completing the 12-0 run in the second half. The contest finished with a final score line of 23-8.
