Pannenbacker Enters Record Books as Lions Storm Past Brevard 24-6

DEMOREST, Ga. - Senior faceoff specialist CHRIS PANNENBACKER entered the Piedmont record books as the Piedmont men's lacrosse team stormed past Brevard 24-6 on Wednesday afternoon in Demorest.

Pannenbacker entered the contest needing five faceoff wins to become Piedmont all-time leader and broke the record in the first quarter after going five for his first five. The senior from Mooresville, North Carolina was perfect on the day, winning all 14 of his attempts.


 
The Lions were dominant in the early going, scoring the game's first 12 goals and leading 9-0 after the first quarter. Brevard finally broke through with 10:02 left in the second quarter, but Piedmont then answered with a 6-1 run to end the half and head to the break up 18-2.


 



The Tornados showed some fight in the second half, as Piedmont only outscored them 6-4 over the final 30 minutes.

On the offensive side, Piedmont was led by a career-high five goals from senior MICHAEL ANDERSON. In the process, Anderson joined teammate BRADY MCGUIRE in the 100-point club as he also added an assist on the day.


 

Overall, five different Lions scored at least three goals, with IAN PARR (4), ISAAC HARRINGTON (3), McGuire (3) and Jacob Habrouck joining Anderson in the hat trick club.

Up next, the Lions will look to remain undefeated in USA South play, as they take to the road to battle Huntingdon this Friday, April 7 at 7 p.m. Piedmont has taken six straight against the Hawks.

TURNING POINT:
- The Lions blitzed the Tornados out of the gate, scoring nine times in the first quarter to run away.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Pannenbacker delivered a perfect 14-of-14 afternoon on faceoffs, breaking the Piedmont career record in the process.
- Anderson joined the 100-point club, scoring a career-best five goals while adding an assist
- The freshman Harrington contributed three goals to go along with two assists.
- McGuire and CONNOR ROGERS tied for the team lead with three assists apiece.
- WALKER BROWN tallied a pair of goals.

NEWS AND NOTES:
- The Lions have reached at least 20 goals while allowing less than 10 in three consecutive games against Brevard.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- As a team, the Lions held a 38-10 advantage in shots on goal.
