FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Piedmont University women's lacrosse team has earned the No. 3 seed for the upcoming USA South tournament. The first round of the tournament will be played as a home contest for the higher seed before the semifinals and finals take place at the home of the highest-remaining seed from the first round.
Piedmont went 6-1 in the month of April, only dropping their final contest of the year to Meredith. The team picked up huge conference wins over Brevard and Methodist in back to back slugfests to earn the No. 3 seed.
Up first, Piedmont will host No. 6 Pfeiffer at the Walker Athletic Complex on Tuesday, May 2 at 7 p.m. The Lady Lions dominated the Falcons in their regular season matchup, running away with the contest 23-8. They will look to repeat their success for a second time.
Following the first round competitions, the tournament is set to run for the remainder of the week with the championship contest scheduled for Saturday, May 8.
