MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Piedmont baseball team used a late offensive surge to cap off a 10-6 game to even the series. The Lions will go for the series victory with game three on Sunday.
It was a quiet contest for the most part until the Lions got on the board in the sixth inning to lead 1-0. It was small ball as a walk, hit by pitch and a single drove in the run to break the scoreless tie.
In the eighth though, it was an offensive onslaught as Piedmont scored nine runs on six hits and one error to lead 10-1.
The Hawks had just four hits in the contest until the eighth inning when they were able to answer and get on the board with their own explosion of offense. Huntingdon answered Piedmont's nine run top half with five runs on seven hits eventually chasing starter
ADAM METIVIER.
NATHAN BOYCE came in to close out the ninth inning getting a save on a double play to end the game.
There were 16 total runs scored in the contest with 14 of them coming in the eighth inning. Piedmont had just nine hits to the Hawks 13.
The two will square off in the series finale Sunday in Alabama.

--Piedmont scored nine runs in the eighth inning to distance themselves and secure the victory.

--Piedmont was walked 10 times in the contest compared to the Piedmont pitching staff allowing just two walks.
