SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Piedmont men's tennis team concluded its weekend road trip with a 9-0 loss at the hands of No. 15 Sewanee on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions battled in doubles action, but the Tigers were able to take all three matches and carry the momentum into singles, where they won all six lines in straight sets.
After Sewanee took the matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-3, Piedmont's No. 3 doubles team of
SILAS SANDLES and
SIMON JOHNSTONE dropped a hard-fought battle, 8-6, to give the Tigers the doubles sweep.
Singles play was more of the same as Sewanee rolled to the win. Piedmont's
KODY DILLS played a strong first set at No. 6, winning four games in that set before a second set rout helped Sewanee complete the shutout.
Up next, the Lions will step back into conference play, taking on LaGrange on the road next Friday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
