Baseball Rolls in 14-2 Win Over Bridgewater

NEED TO KNOW:
Score: Piedmont 14, Bridgewater 2
Records: Piedmont, 7-3; Bridgewater 2-8

DEMOREST, Ga. - In a game that featured runs early and often, the Piedmont baseball team rolled past Bridgewater 14-2. While the offense was electric, BODIE EILERTSON also had a spectacular outing on the mound to move to 3-0.

Eilertson earned his fourth start of the season going 7.0 innings allowing just five hits and one earned run. He also had a career-high nine strikeouts.

The Piedmont offense was at work quickly but working from a 1-0 deficit as the Eagles' only run came in the top of the first. That momentum was short-lived as the Lions scored three in the bottom of the first.

KOLTON HICKS doubled to drive in COLE ELLIS and then CARTER BALLSTADT went oppo for his third home run of the season.

The Lions were back at it in the second inning with a five spot scoring five runs on five hits and one error. JAMES WHITMER got the inning started with a bang with his first career home run.

Three straight singles brought another run around making it 5-1 and then KYLE CARLSON got in on the action with his second home run of the year.

The Lions led 8-1 after the second inning and would add runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth. Piedmont put up a four spot in the fifth on three hits and two errors.

Piedmont left 11 on the bases with 17 hits in the contest and no errors.

Piedmont will have a doubleheader Sunday facing Bridgewater at 10 a.m. and Ferrum at 1 p.m.
