Baseball's Late Innings Rally Not Enough Against Brevard in 10-8 Loss

DEMOREST, Ga. - A late push by the Lions was not enough to manage a comeback against the Brevard Tornados in a 10-8 loss at Loudermilk Field Wednesday. The Lions trailed 10-2 after the top of the seventh but scored in all three of the final innings in an attempt for a rally. 

A pair of sac flies in the second inning put Brevard ahead 2-0, and the Tornados took a 3-0 lead in the third, with two of the first three runs unearned. 

CARTER BALLSTADT got the Lions on the board with a two-run blast in the third inning, his first home run of the season at Loudermilk Field. 
 
It was a close game with three scoreless innings in the 4th-6th, but the Tornados blew it open in the seventh. Brevard scored seven runs on six hits including a grand slam. 

The Lions had seen 2.1 innings of clean work from BRADEN SIMMS with just one hit and two walks, but it took three pitchers for the Lions to make it out of the seventh. 

TYLER ROON closed out the final two innings of the game with just two hits, one walk and one strikeout. 

Piedmont attempted to rally with one run in the seventh and then three in the eighth. The Lions used three walks and two hits to string together three runs in the eighth and managed two more in the ninth, but the comeback fell short.

TURNING POINT:
--The Tornados managed a seven spot in the seventh inning including a grand slam from Logan Clark. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--COLE ELLIS was electric at the dish as he was 5-for-5 with three doubles and two runs scored. 

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
--CARTER BALLSTADT hit his first home run of the season at Loudermilk Field with a 2-run blast in the third inning.
