DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont men's lacrosse team let a fourth quarter lead slip away in a 12-10 loss to Bridgewater at the Walker Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions led 9-6 with 7:30 to go in the final quarter, but the Eagles battled back with a 6-1 run the rest of the way to take the win.
The loss marks the first for Piedmont this season in Demorest.
It was a a balanced goal-scoring attack from the Lions, as eight different players found the back of the net, led by two each from
MICHAEL ANDERSON and
JACOB HASBROUCK. Strong defensive play put Piedmont in position to win late, as it held the Eagles scoreless in the first period and to just two goals in the first half.

JOHNNY MATRONA had an outstanding day, delivering a season-high 14 saves while defender
ERIC FEWELL played a major role, with three caused turnovers.
The first quarter was a defensive battle with the Lions receiving a man up goal from Anderson to open the scoring before Hasbrouck's first made it 2-0.
The teams went back-and-forth in the second quarter, as Bridgewater broke its scoreless drought with 12:33 left in the half and quickly tied the game at 2-2 30 seconds later. However, Piedmont scored twice as Hasbrouck gave Piedmont the lead and
IAN PARR's first goal made it 4-2 in favor of the Lions going to the break.
DREW BENNETT's caused turnover, ground ball pickup and mad dash leading to a goal was the highlight of the fourth quarter for the Lions, as the game went to the fourth quarter knotted up at 6-all.
Piedmont took advantage of a slew of Bridgewater penalties to begin the fourth, scoring three times to jump ahead 9-6. Unfortunately, the Eagles did not go away, using a furious 6-0 run and shutting down the Piedmont offense to take the victory.
Up next, the Lions will remain at home, hosting Sewanee next Tuesday, March 7 at 6 p.m.

- Bridgewater's 6-0 scoring burst in the middle of the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in the 12-10 win for the Eagles.

- Matrona delivered a season-high 14 saves to keep the Eagles to just two first-half goals.
