DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University women's lacrosse team dropped the season opener at home to Berry by a score of 15-12.
The Lady Lions battled hard on a chilly night in Demorest against the Vikings but were unable to keep pace in the second half.Â
Starting out hot, Piedmont jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the Vikings rallied back with 4 straight goals and closed out the first period with a lead. Fighting hard in the second period, Piedmont was able to close the small gap back to neutral and go to halftime 8-8. The Lady Lions had six different goal scorers in the half.Â
However, out of halftime the Vikings shut down the Lady Lions, allowing just one goal in the third period, scored by
ALY REECE. Berry would continue to pull away in the fourth period as they scored four goals in the final seven minutes.
MAGGI SPRATLIN scored the final goal of the contest but the score finished 15-12.
Up next, the Lady Lions are back in action at home taking on Birmingham-Southern on Saturday, Feb. 11th with the contest scheduled to start at noon.Â
TURNING POINT:

-- The Lady Lions had seven different goal scorers with five scoring multiple goals.
