Lady Lions Dominate BSC with Nine Different Goal Scorers

DEMOREST, Ga. - With nine different goal scorers on the day, the Lady Lions dominated Birmingham-Southern as Piedmont improved to 1-1 on the season.

From the jump, it was all Lady Lions as they scored seven unanswered goals in the first period. This seven goal run included a hat trick from MERRYN BUMPASS, who scored all three goal in succession and within just minutes of each other.

AVA TRANKINA, who had two first period goals, opened the scoring in period number two as she scored her third of the day to make it 8-0. CARSON BEZOLD would add one more before the halftime horn for Piedmont, making the score 9-0.

It wouldn't be until the third period where BSC finally found their first goals. However, with LINDLEY WARD, LAURA CRONE and CLARA WELCH all scoring in the period, BSC would only cut the deficit by 1, finishing the period trailing 12-4. 

The Lady Lions continued the onslaught of offense well into the fourth period, leaving no doubt of the contests outcome. When the final horn sounded, Piedmont capped off a dominate 17-5 win over the Panthers.

Up next, Piedmont heads on the road to take on Centre College in Danville, Ky. on Saturday, Feb. 18th.

TURNING POINT:
-- Piedmont went on a 7-0 run in the first eight minutes of the contest, with four different players scoring during the run.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES: 
-- The Lady Lions had 9 different goal scorers in the game.
-- AVA TRANKINA led all scorers with four goals in the contest.
-- LINDLEY WARD was the only Lady Lions with more than one assist (2).
-- CLARA WELCH forced three turnovers.
-- CARSON BEZOLD and LAURA CRONE scored their first collegiate goals.
