BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Piedmont men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the 2023 season on Saturday, falling 5-0 at Birmingham-Southern on rain-soaked clay courts in Birmingham.

With the rains falling and amidst difficult conditions, the Panthers clinched the match 5-0 with a doubles sweep and two singles wins and the rest of the matches went unfinished.

As the conditions allowed, the match was moved to clay courts, as the Panthers quickly took all three doubles lines with an 8-1 win at No. 1 and 8-3 wins at No. 2 and No. 3.

Then, needing just two more points to take the match, BSC found them at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win, and No. 2 singles as Wil Dotson clinched the match with a third-set breaker win.

No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 singles were all in the second set when the match was called while No. 6 singles had yet to begin.

Up next, the Lions will break until their Orlando Spring Break Trip, which gets underway Monday, March 6 against Schreiner.
