DEMOREST, Ga. - In a contest that saw the Piedmont men's basketball team trail by as many as 24, the Lions nearly completed the comeback falling short 80-77 against LaGrange Wednesday evening.
Piedmont trailed by 21 with 6:15 to play in the contest and was able to come as close as one after a 3-pointer by
ANDREW STIMPSON with four seconds remaining. The Panthers were able to convert a pair of free throws to ice it but the Lions held the ball for the final shot.
The Lions used a 15-0 run to cut it to 70-64 with 3:08 remaining. The defense kept the Panthers at bay with just one shot from the floor in the final six minutes.
LaGrange was 15-of-23 from the foul line but was 8-of-12 in the final two minutes of play with four key misses that kept the Lions in the game. The Cave Crazies played a factor down the stretch with a rocking atmosphere in Cave Arena.
Four Lions scored in double figures led by
NOAH REARDON with 24 points while
RYAN JOLLY and
DEVIN DEAN added 15 each.
ANDREW STIMPSON also contributed 10 points.

NOAH REARDON led Piedmont with a season-high 24 points banking four 3-pointers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Piedmont tallied 55 points in the second half after just 22 in the first.
