DEMOREST, Ga. - For the second-straight contest, the Piedmont men's basketball team fell short by just two points in an 82-80 loss to Belhaven. The Lions trailed by as many as 15 in the game, but worked to nearly pull off the comeback holding the ball for the final shot of the game.
Piedmont trailed by 10 with 1:46 left to play but was able to use a 6-1 run to cut it to 80-76 with 46 seconds remaining.
RYAN JOLLY made a pair of layups including Piedmont's final basket, but was unable to convert on an and-one opportunity and the Blazers got the rebound.
Jolly took the final shot for Piedmont but the Blazers came away victorious.
Piedmont built a nine point lead early, but the Blazers went on a 14-0 run including four straight 3-pointers to lead 28-20. The Lions fell behind by 15 late in the first half and trailed 52-39 at the break.
The Lions were on a roll out of halftime cutting the lead to five after an 8-0 run to start the half. Piedmot was able to cut the deficit to two but was unable to claim a lead in the second half.
Up next, Piedmont hosts Huntingdon inside Cave Arena in CCS doubleheader action at 4 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
--Piedmont had 19 offensive boards to the Blazers' eight but just seven more second chance points than Belhaven.

ANDREW STIMPSON made a career-high 23 points in the contest including three 3-pointers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Piedmont lost both contests to Belhaven this season by a combined three points.
