MARYVILLE, Tenn. - In a game that was tied with less than two minutes to play, the Piedmont men's basketball team came away with a win at Maryville 76-71 to move to 2-1 in CCS play. The Lions were able to close it out in the final minutes thanks to five points by
DEVIN DEAN.
Dean made a layup with just over a minute to go to put the Lions out in front and was 3-of-4 from the free throw line to close out the contest.
The Piedmont defense held tough denying the Scots on their final four possessions. Maryville also had the opportunity to tie the game with 47 seconds remaining but missed a pair of free throws.
At the half, Piedmont led by one 33-32 despite having trailed by seven in the opening minutes of the game. There was a cold stretch for both teams in the first half as neither team scored over a 3:30 minute stretch.
In the second half, it was a tight contest with neither team leading by more than four points until the final free throw by Dean to make it a five point victory.
Up next, Piedmont faces Berea tomorrow at 4 p.m.

DEVIN DEAN scored the final five points of the contest to seal the victory with a double-double in the contest scoring 11 points and adding 13 rebounds.

NOAH REARDON led the Lions with 14 points going 4-for-4 from 3-point range.

--Piedmont managed 12 3-pointers to the Scots' nine in the contest.
