ATLANTA, Ga. - Though Piedmont volleyball was able to take Oglethorpe to the brink in the second set and force extra points, the Lady Lions fell in straight sets on the road Tuesday to Oglethorpe 3-0.
Piedmont jumped out to an early lead over the Stormy Petrels, but a 6-0 run put Oglethorpe up 14-8 midway through the first set. The Lady Lions fell behind 20-12 but continued to fight before a final of 25-18 in the first.
The second set was a battle throughout, but Piedmont trailed 23-19 before reeling off a 5-1 run to force extra points. Oglethorpe pulled through with a 26-24 final before taking control in the third set to claim the match with a 25-12 decision in the third.
JENNA ASH led Piedmont with seven kills while
TAYLOR HERRMANN tallied 16 digs.
Up next, Piedmont will host Florida College on Friday, September 16 for the home opener inside Cave Arena.

BROOKLYN GUNN led Piedmont with 17 assists and a pair of aces in the contest.
