Lady Lions Fall in Four Sets in Home Opener v. Florida College

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont volleyball team opened its home slate on Friday night at Cave Arena, falling in four sets to Florida College.

After the Falcons pulled away in the first set and eked out a 25-23 win in the second set, the Lady Lions rallied from down in the third set to win it 25-20 and force a fourth.

However, Florida College took control of the fourth set early and never looked back on its way to a dominant 25-14 fourth set win. 

JENNA ASH led the Lady Lions with eight kills while ALAINA MCDONALD pitched in five kills with a .417 hitting percentage.

Piedmont jumped out to an early lead in the first set with a 5-3 edge. However, the Falcons rallied with four straight points to take a 7-5 lead and they never trailed the rest of the set.

The second set was back-and-forth throughout, but with the score tied at 15 apiece, the Lady Lions allowed the Falcons to win five straight points and were put away at 25-23.

While the Falcons took an early 7-2 advantage in the third set, Piedmont rallied back midway through the set, eventually winning the set 25-20 to force a fourth.

However, from there, it was all Falcons, who never trailed in the deciding fourth set, rolling to a 25-14 victory and a four-set match win.

Up next, the Lady Lions will travel to Toccoa Falls tomorrow at 6 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- After it looked like momentum had swung Piedmont's way, the Falcons turned it right back with a dominant fourth set win to clinch the match.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- JENNA ASH led the Lady Lions with eight kills.
- TAYLOR HERRMANN paced the team with 34 digs while BROOKLYN GUNN led with 17 assists.
