TOCCOA, Ga. - The Piedmont volleyball team traveled to Toccoa Falls College Saturday dropping a 3-0 match to the Screaming Eagles. The Lady Lions were able to keep it close in the first two sets 25-22 and 25-23 before dropping the third set 25-11.
Piedmont was able to keep it close in the early going and challenge the Screaming Eagles. The Lady Lions took an early 10-6 lead in the opening set before TFC battled back to tie the set at 13.
Piedmont led 22-21 before the Screaming Eagles reeled off the final four points to take the first set. A service error and a pair of attack errors accounted for three of those four points.
In the second set, the Lady Lions fell behind 13-5 but were able to make a run to bring the score to 13-11. Toccoa Falls maintained the lead but Piedmont threatened till the end in the 25-23 decision.
The third set was all Toccoa Falls after the Screaming Eagles led 12-8 and outscored Piedmont 13-3 down the stretch.
The Screaming Eagles amassed 32 kills to Piedmont's 22 in the contest.
Up next, the Lady Lions will host Bob Jones Tuesday inside Cave Arena at 7 p.m.
