DEMOREST, Ga. - Under the lights, Piedmont battled to a draw against a stout Birmingham-Southern squad.
It was chilly night in Demorest but the action was fast and furious. Piedmont came out and dominated the first 15 minutes but saw BSC dominate the remainder of the first half. Freshman Goalkeeper COLLIN SHEELER was a brick wall, making 10 saves before conceding the first goal in 35th minute of the contest.
Coming out half, the Lions were completely rejuvenated. Piedmont found a shot almost directly out of the half and found the back of the net just minutes later. A long overhead ball to Freshman COLIN VOGEL near the offensive third connected and he beat the defender down the wing and through the box. Vogel then found Freshman DANNY CASTRO in the box where Castro put away his first career collegiate goal in the 53rd minute.
The Lions and Panthers would continue to battle down to the final seconds of the contest but neither team would be able to break the tie.
Up next, the Lions begin CCS play as they travel to Berea on October 1. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Piedmont was out shot 21-4 in the first half of the contest.
- Goalkeeper COLLIN SHEELER finished the contest with 13 saves.
- Piedmonts lone goal from DANNY CASTRO was his first of the season and first of his career.
