Piedmont Falls to William Peace 3-0

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont men's soccer team fell 3-0 to William Peace in Saturday afternoon's contest.

It was a back-and-forth contest in the first half in Demorest. The Lions and Pacers both had opportunities on net throughout the half.

The only goal of the first 45 came on an own goal from the Lions. The Lions tallied 8 shots to the 10 from William Peace before the halftime whistle.

Out of halftime, the Lions were put on the back foot by multiple shots on goal from the Pacers and just 9 minutes into the half, Danny Alvarez would find the back of the net to make the score line 2-0.

Just minutes later, Freshman Goalkeeper BOBBY WOOD made his seventh save of the contest and collided with a Pacer forward. This would lead to Piedmont subbing in Freshman Goalkeeper GRANT HOTTEL to see his first minutes of the year.

The Pacers scored once more in the contest and finished the game with a 3-0 score.

Up next, Piedmont will host Birmingham-Southern in their final out of conference game before conference play. The contest is set to take place at the Walker Athletic Complex on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.

Inside the Box Score:
- Piedmont was out shot 28-16.
- Piedmont narrowly held the lead in corners 9-8.
- Freshman BOBBY WOOD made 7 saves on 9 shots on goal and Freshman GRANT HOTTEL made 4 saves on 5 shots on goal.
