GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Piedmont women's lacrosse team bounced back in a big way on Saturday afternoon with a dominant 14-1 road victory at Greensboro.

The Lady Lions pounced early, leading 8-0 after the first quarter before the Pride scored their lone goal, starting off the second.

Piedmont led by 10 at the break and iced the game away with three more goals in the second half as the clock was running for the entirety of the second half.

Freshman MAGGI SPRATLIN had an outstanding day, scoring a season-best four goals while adding a pair of assists to lead the squad as well. Fellow freshmen MERRYN BUMPASS and KAYLEE MORELAND were major parts of the win, with Bumpass collecting her seventh hat trick of the season and Moreland returning to the lineup to score twice, with both coming in the second half.

Piedmont's defense was stifling all day, as it held Greensboro to just two shots on goal. The Lady Lions also forced 31 Pride turnovers including 11 in the third quarter.

Bumpass got the scoring parade started not even 1:30 into the contest and added her second of the day with just over three minutes gone in the game. It was then Spratlin's turn, as she scored the next two and then capped the first quarter scoring with her fourth of the day, making it 8-0 Lions with 11 seconds left in the opening period.

Junior captain LINDLEY WARD also scored twice as both of her goals came in the second quarter.

After missing a number of games with an injury, Moreland made her impressive return to the field, tallying two of Piedmont's three goals in the second half.

Up next, the Lady Lions will continue their North Carolina road trip tomorrow at 1 p.m. as they take on N.C. Wesleyan.
