MONTGOMERY, Ala. - For the second straight game, the Piedmont women's lacrosse team used a second half comeback, this time resulting in a 15-11 road win over Huntingdon on Tuesday night in Alabama.

The Lady Lions trailed 9-8 in the third quarter, but outscored the Hawks 6-3 the rest of the way to improve to 6-3 in the USA South.

Piedmont had a balanced scoring attack with four players delivering hat tricks on the day. Freshman ALY REECE led the way with four goals which ties her season high.

MAGGI SPRATLIN, LINDLEY WARD and MERRYN BUMPASS scored three times each with Spratlin dishing out a team-best three assists.

Goalie KELLIANNE SCHLOSSER was steady with nine goals in the win.

The game was back and forth in the early going as the Hawks scored the opening two goals of the game before Piedmont added three in a row to take its first lead of the contest.

Huntingdon was able to retake the lead after one quarter with two quick goals in response. However, for the second time in the first half, the Lions answered a 2-0 run with a 3-0 run of their own, as Spratlin scored two of her three goals to put Piedmont up 6-4.

Although the Lions led 8-6 going to the break, Huntingdon fought back, with three straight to retake the lead once more. This time, it was the last lead it would have, as the Lions took control with a furious rally that was capped by three straight goals from Reece that were assisted by Spratlin.

With the lead, the Lions controlled possession in a low-scoring fourth quarter and held on to win 15-11.

Up next, Piedmont will play its final regular season home game, hosting Meredith this Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
