DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's lacrosse team ran away from Brevard in the fourth quarter with an 18-8 victory on Tuesday night in Demorest.

Five Lady Lions delivered hat tricks on Tuesday, led by freshman MERRYN BUMPASS' five goals.

Fellow newcomer ALY REECE did it all, scoring three times to go with a team-high four assists on the night.

Piedmont led wire-to-wire and held at least a six goal lead for the entirety of the second half, ending the game on a 4-0 run to get to a running clock in the final two minutes.

The Lady Lions wasted no time in jumping on the Torrnados early, scoring the first five goals of the game, with two coming from LINDLEY WARD, who scored three total on the night. Piedmont's stifling defense in the first quarter held Brevard off the scoreboard until 18 seconds remained in the period.

Reece was outstanding in a high-scoring second quarter for Piedmont, scoring twice while dishing out two assists as the Lady Lions went to the break with a 12-4 lead.

However, Brevard fought back in the third, with a 3-0 scoring run to cut its deficit to 14-8.

The run was answered by a fantastic close to the contest by Piedmont, ending the game with four unanswered goals, as two came from breakout star CARA CRUMP, who tallied three goals for the second consecutive game, while also adding three assists, four ground balls and a team-high five caused turnovers.

Up next, the Lady Lions will begin a three-game road trip next Saturday, April 2 with a 12 p.m. contest at Methodist.
