DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont women's lacrosse team earned its first victory of the season in the home opener Tuesday with a 16-1 win over Warren Wilson.
Piedmont left no doubt in this one scoring seven in the first period and another six in the second to lead 13-0 at the break.
In the first period,
ALY REECE managed three unassisted goals for her first three goals of the season.
MERRYN BUMPASS added a pair in the first and two more in the contest.
MACHAELA SMITH and
CIERA PHELPS both also scored their first goals of the season as Smith tacked on three and Phelps scored the final goal of the game with 7:07 remaining.
The Owls broke the scoreless stretch with a goal in the fourth quarter by Dylan Edwards.
Warren Wilson saw just five shots total as Piedmont tallied 29 shots with 27 on goal. Christina Fischborn for the Owls recorded 11 saves allowing 16 goals.
Up next, the Lady Lions return to action on the road at Guilford Friday at 5 p.m.

ALY REECE led Piedmont with eight points in the contest contributing four goals and four assists.

MERRYN BUMPASS also added four goals in the contest as she leads Piedmont this season with nine goals.
--Goalkeeper
KELLIANNE SCHLOSSER earned the victory playing the first 30 minutes while
RACHEL VERNER played the second half.
